Would you like to have a career you can take with you anywhere in the world?

The creating, enhancing and preserving of beauty is the art and science of the Natural Beauty Therapist – one of the most satisfying and rewarding of all professions. How many careers give you the opportunity to travel the world, move amongst glamorous and exciting people, be sought after wherever you go and be paid to do so?

All the NSW School of Natural Medicine’s Natural Beauty, Nail Enhancement and Make-up Artistry modules have been designed to train an entirely new generation of professionals. These professionals are highly trained therapists, able to combine two very popular complementary areas of Health Science and Aesthetic practices.

Body Work

"To be able to have touch is to enjoy life" Anon.

You often hear senior citizens remarking that whilst their brain is as young as ever, their body is aged and breaking down.

Maintenance of our body function and structure is an integral part of the enjoyment of good health and indeed, life itself. This principle is now widely recognised and the role of bodywork has been expanding at an accelerated rate.

The bodywork profession is rapidly changing. It is becoming more sophisticated, now requiring education not only in technical bodywork skills, but also in pathology, nutrition, record keeping, communication skills and in the important area of professional ethics.

Bodywork encompasses a large range of physical therapies including Swedish Massage, Remedial Massage, Ayurvedic Massage, Acupressure Massage, Sports Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Baby Massage.

Homoeopathy

“The long-term benefit of homœopathy to the patient is that it not only alleviates the presenting symptoms but it re-establishes internal order at the deepest levels and thereby provides a lasting cure.” George Vithoulkas author ‘Science of Homœopathy’

Homœopathy is a fast growing area of inexpensive, non-toxic, natural, non-addictive and effective medicine for both acute and chronic diseases. It is based on the age old principle of “like shall be cured by like” i.e. a substance which can produce symptoms of disease in a healthy person can cure these symptoms in a sick person when given in dilute, potentised homœopathic doses.

Naturopathy

"To the uninformed, naturopathic medicine as well as the entire concept of natural medicine, appears to be a fad that will soon pass away. To the informed, however, it is quite clear that naturopathic medicine is at the forefront of the future." - Michael Murray ND

Nutrition

“Our physical bodies are made up of water, fat, protein, carbohydrates, and similar substances. Therefore, it’s logical to expect that if something is wrong with our bodies, proper manipulation of the elements of which they are made will be a major factor in re- establishing health” Jonathan Wright, MD

The definition of nutrition is: the science of foods and the nutrients and other substances they contain, and of their actions within the body. A broader definition includes the social, economic, cultural and psychological implications of food and eating.

Western Herbal Medicine

"There are an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 plants on the earth today (the number varies depending on whether subspecies are included). Only about 5,000 of these have been extensively studied for their medicinal applications – this illustrates the need for modern medicine and science to turn its attention to the plant world once again to find new cures." - N Farnsworth PhD,Professor of Pharmacology, Uni of Illinois
