INDIAN HEAD & SHOULDER MASSAGE

The Quick & Portable De-Stresser”
Indian Head Massage, is based on the traditional form of Champi, an Indian word denoting a particular massage technique. The English word “shampoo” is derived from the Hindi. Head massage is commonplace in India– the techniques have been passed through the generations over thousands of years and is featured in the earliest Ayurvedic texts which date back nearly 4000 years. In our modern society, stress, poor eating habits, pollution, lack of exercise and fresh air all contribute to a variety of ailments settling on the head and shoulders. Indian Head Massage is a simple, effective technique that can be practiced anywhere. By working on the upper back, neck, shoulders and head, the areas which are most vulnerable to stress and tension, it becomes in effect a de-stressing programme for the whole body and thus eliminates toxins from tense knotted muscles, relieves stiffness, improves lymph and blood circulation.

This course module will be on offer to all on Thursday 14th June 2007 from 9.00am till 1.00pm at a cost of $60.00. CPE points will be granted. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

PADAVEDA

Date: 15th June, 20th July, 24th August, 7th September, & 26th October 2008, Time: 9am – 4pm, Cost: $500.00

Padaveda translates as “knowledge of the feet”. This knowledge arises from the ancient science of Ayurvedic Medicine. Padaveda blends Ayurvedic insight and wisdom with basic reflexology principles to discover a new way of interpreting the feet, to discover a new way of approaching the feet.

On day one, you will create greater awareness of how truly wholistic your reflexology treatment is. As a reflexologist you hold the whole being in the palms of your hands. So every technique you use, every movement you make ripples through and connects with the whole being, all levels of being. On day one, this understanding will be explored and you will become conscious of what level of being you are connecting with. Perhaps this will change the whole dynamic of your treatment as you make more conscious selections of techniques in order to resonate with the emotions, the subconscious mind, the intellect or intelligence, the ego and even the soul.

Ayurveda has a unique way of understanding the body, in that it analyses the state of the underlying intelligences behind the structures, behind the body functions, behind the organs, glands and tissues. From day two to five you will gain a deepening of understanding of body’s basic underlying intelligences and signs of their imbalance in the body and an understanding that these intelligences are located in different sites in the body and as such are also reflected in the feet.

Therefore you will explore:

• another map (perhaps you will interpret the feet a little differently)
• another approach to the feet – working on the imbalanced intelligences themselves.

METAMORPHOSIS

Date: 7th December, 2008, Time: 9am – 4pm,  Cost: $115

“Deep within us is a centre, a nucleus, from which we have the potential of complete and absolute intelligence and functional ability….The principle of metamorphosis is the ability to be able to “tune in” to this centre in the ordinary practice of life” Robert St John, the founder of metamorphosis.

Why is it so difficult to connect with this centre? Robert St John believes that the difficulty arises because consciousness tends to be placed in diversionary blocks (alternate centres of consciousness). The essence of these blocks or alternate centres of consciousness are laid down in the prenatal time and we build upon these throughout life.

Robert St John developed a lovely analogy to explain what is happening in metamorphosis. Life or life-force is like a river. During prenatal time pebbles are laid down on the bottom of the river. These pebbles are negative beliefs we hold about ourselves and others and our concept of life. As river flows, as life moves on, debris slowly builds up around pebbles, creating eddies, whirlpools, diversions and waterfalls. Our consciousness gets caught up in these “alternate centres of consciousness”, creating more debris. Eventually the surface on the river is broken, ruffling its smooth surface (physical illness). Many therapies clear a little of the debris so the surface is smooth again, but after awhile debris forms again and illness returns.

CHAKRA SPARSA

Date: 2nd March, 2008, Time: 9am – 4pm, Cost: $115

Chakra Sparsha is an ancient Ayurvedic vibrational healing technique that creates harmony to the mind, body and soul via the feet. This harmony occurs when the pranic energetic field (the link between the mind, body and soul) flows freely. There are 72,000 rivers of energy (nadis) through which prana flows, energising us on a cellular level, nurturing and nourishing the mind and resonating with the soul. Along these nadis are 1000’s of energetic centres. The main pranic energy centres are the chakras and these are the focus of Chakra Sparsha.

Chakra Sparsha cleanses and unblocks the chakras with a unique combination of touch upon specific chakra reflexes on the feet, mantra and colour. Chakra Sparsha balances the ethereal, astral, mental and spiritual bodies; calms the emotions and provides a powerful physical treatment, especially for neurological and hormonal problems.

The word "Ayurveda" is Sanskrit for the "knowledge of life." Ayurveda encompasses all details of life, including diet, lifestyle, exercise, living conditions, behaviours, environmental influences, medicines and massage.

Traditional Ayurvedic Massage does not just focus on the skin and muscles, although improving circulation and lymphatic flow and reducing muscle tension is an important aspect of Ayurvedic massage. There is also a focus on improving the flow of “prana “ (life force) throughout the body. Ayurvedic massage stimulates all of the organs and improves many of the body's functions, including digestive activity.

Ayurvedic massage is unique in that it recognises that each person has his or her own unique constitution. As different styles of massage benefit different constitutions, each person is massaged in their own unique way. There is also a focus on releasing “ama” (toxins) from the body, calming the mind and nurturing the spirit.

This module covers the 38 flower remedies discovered by Dr. Edward Bach and the Australian Bush Flower Essences. Each flower essence aids a specific emotion. They can be taken individually to help you deal with a specific status or as a blend of up to seven essences to match the way you feel.

Recent research into the links between emotions and the immune system supports and reinforces the view that emotional balance and well being directly affects and influences our physical health. More and more medical experts now agree that a healthy mind really does ensure a healthy body.
