Ayurveda is Sanskrit for the “science of life” & encompasses many fields of healing body, mind & soul. Ayurvedic Massage improves blood circulation & lymphatic flow & is also unique in its focus on balancing the doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These are invisible forces within the body that are manifestations of the 5 elements – earth, water, fire, air and ether. A harmonic balance of the 3 doshas is essential for physical & mental well-being.
Ayurvedic Massage also focuses on promoting prana (or life-force) through the body by manipulation of the marmas (or energy centres) thereby releasing stiffness & stimulating the functions of the organs, toning digestive system, heart, kidneys, liver, spleen & lungs.
Ayurvedic Massage can be applied as a strengthening relaxation massage or specific therapeutic techniques can be applied to relieve conditions such as frozen shoulder, back pain, sinus and arthritis.
